意大利船级社（RINA）1861年成立于热那亚，由一群船东和海上保险商发起成立，至今已有140多年的历史，是世界上最老的船级社之一，也是国际船级社协会（IACS）的创建者之一。经过140多年的发展，意大利船级社的业务范围不断扩大。
意大利船级社海上业务有两类：一类是传统的船舶检验业务，即依法对船舶、海洋工程、船用产品进行的检验；另一类是现有船状态评估与工业服务业务。服务范围包括为相关各方（船东、海上保险商、租船者）提供船舶符合性检验，维护海上安全及防止海上污染。此外，意大利船级社还将其在船舶入级方面的技术应用于能源、基础设施、物流、环境评估、工业服务等领域。
目前，意大利船级社已获得意大利政府和其他七十多个国旗国政府的授权，依据欧盟有关规定代其行使职责。作为一家船级社，意大利船级社依据RINA规范进行设计并对其监督建造的船只进行全面的质量和安全认定。另外，在对悬挂意大利国旗的船只的建造进行检验及监督的同时，意大利船级社也直接代表意大利政府行使职责，自RINA成立以来就与意大利政府建立了直接且紧密的联系。
意大利船级社还在质量、环境认证领域具有丰富的经验，尤其对中小企业开展上述领域的认证方面处于领先地位。
Promoting quality
RINA S.p.A. is the operational company of Registro Italiano Navale which was founded in Genova in 1861. The date of its establishment makes it one of the oldest classification societies in the world. RINA S.p.A. and its subsidiary companies mainly operate in the fields of ship classification, certification and advanced services to industry.
RINA Group business activities consist in offering certification, verification, control, assistance and consultancy services to economic and institutional operators, aimed at improving the safety and quality of their products, processes and services.
